I was hit by this image at 5am this morning.....I just had to get up and draw it out so I wouldn't forget it...^_^

The photograph (myself) was taken specifically for the cover...The band and the album title are fictitious, but if they would have been real, they would probably have been a techno/trance type of band.

I wanted the cover to convey sound and the way it envelopes our minds and affects our emotional state...

I hope I succeeded!

Tools: Webcam, Phososhop CS, imagination...

Textures for back cover and label were taken from here: http://mayang.com/textures/. Font used is called suede...it's from http://www.dafont.com.

EDIT I: I did indeed go ahead and make a back cover and cd label to go with the front. I find it is complete now with those added...

I made it so that there would be plenty of room for a bar code and copywrite info at the bottom though i didn't want to add these in myself.

I attached larger versions of the cd front as well as the back cover & label. The full image just doesn't show all the details and so I highly recommend you going to take a look at those two larger files. Thank you!

EDIT II: I'm getting obsessed with this...

I've just made a back end for the CD cover...I've uploaded it larger for your viewing seeing as you can read what i wrote in the thank you section...

If I get the chance to go have this printed, I'll mock it up into a real CD case and take nice pictures!

I'm pleased to see the reoccuring theme of circles being used on all the parts of the product. Everything you chose to do does in fact emit a trans/techno vibe.

The only aspect that I worry about is where the album title gets a little overpowered at the beginning. Your face takes the most attention in the work, so it draws focus away from 'suspended' Not too big a deal, just a thought.

To be nit picky....I would also just increase the space between 'suspended' and the center circle a little, with an equivalent amount of room from the bottom.

I think the CD design is fantastic...not too busy and fits right in with the packaging.

Wysiwg...so what you mean is I should nudge down the 'suspended' until the distance is equal at the bottom and near the circle? I just want to make sure I'm reading right...

EDIT: Ok....so I evened out the space suggested on top and bottom of 'suspended' and I also centered it better to the circle...it was leaning towards the left....I also darkened the glow around the letters to that they stand out a little bit more.....hopefully, that is now better?

@lebel: hehe...la couleur est belle et bien tres vibrant...ca represent les 'lightstick' que beaucoup de ravers danse avec...

A propose du backcover et l'autocollant CD...il n'y a pas d'image specific...ce sont seulement des textures.

heheheeh... I had to laugh at your statement of this being addicting. IT IS! All I wanted to do is test something and turned-over a something near full!

I get a sense of techno/dance with this. Clubbing, raving. I would diffently give this CD a chance by listening to it.

The colours, however, bug me. I guess it is too bright for me. I like how it mellows out for the back sleeve, but the inside and CD make me squint.

But, who cares? Your CD is gonna be playing in my car anyway.

@ Manifestant: hehe....the color was inspired by light sticks that the kiddies go and use during raves when they're all high out of their trees and abound in sensory perception overload...*grin* Ok...so that's TOTALLY a stereotype....but it's still what inspired the bright color...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's getting insane with this stuff *lol* I just wish i had a printer so I could mock it up NOW!

@Artimus...I've seen CDs with nothing on tehm which is where I got the idea for it. I've playing with putting text to see how it looked and it disturbs the design too much for my liking. I figured that if someone had this CD and loved it, they'd know exactly who it is for...^_^

IMO the title still needs to stand out a bit.!!! I won't mind breaking away from the color scheme a little bit to bring the title more importance !!!

everything else is great, but i'm not crazy about that blue color..just my tastes..
would've liked it to be toned down a little bit. right now i think the contrast between the black and the blue is too overwhelming
